Maturing in Christ while acting your age

Most of the boys at this camp will likely not end up going to seminary, so don't think this camp isn't for you just because you don't plan on becoming a pastor.  The goal of this camp is to help you mature in your Christian faith, so you can go home and ask more questions to your pastor and your parents, with more confidence to talk about God's Word.  You don't need to grow up all at once.  God didn't design it that way.  At Camp Trinity Academy, you will be challenged to learn more and grow more.  But you're also allowed to act your age.  Enjoy your youth.  Make friends.  And stand on the foundation of Christ.

Diving deeper with boys your age . . .

You've made it through at least one year of Catechism instruction.  Maybe you like to ask your pastor questions about the Bible or just about things you have been pondering.  At this camp, you will dive deeper into Scripture, the Lutheran Confessions, and church history.  Then you can then go back to your home pastor and ask him even more questions!

Lots of free time . . .

The mornings and early afternoons are pretty packed with study and classes.  But don't let that intimidate you!  You will find that this camp has a lot of free time to go swimming, fishing, or just hanging out with the boys.  In fact, this is intentional, and it is something we like to highlight.  You need time to be yourself, get to know the other campers, and let the good theology sink in.

Think theologically!

The goal of this camp is to help you think theologically.  This happens through study, but it especially happens through the casual conversations you have with your friends.  The conversations among the boys range from anywhere between typical goofiness to edifying conversations and even debates.  Thinking theologically means that your mind is ruled by these convictions: that we poor sinners are declared righteous before God only through faith in Christ who died for our sins, and that the Scriptures are the only source of our theology.  It's not about believing something just because your church teaches it, but because the Word of God reveals it.  It's about having the boldness to confess the truth even as you are challenged and sharpened by your fellow confessors.  It is about holding every thought captive to Christ and his Word.  It's about growing into complete manhood while being allowed to be a boy along the way.
